The Civil Engineering Association “SARGA” of LBSITW was inaugurated on 27-02-2013. The activities of SARGA commenced much before its formal inauguration. The first activity organized by the association was a Technical Seminar Competition, in which participation of all the Civil Engineering students was mandatory. The topics chosen were innovative areas in Civil Engineering which is not included in the syllabus of Kerala University. The seminar was highly informative for the students and faculty of Civil Engineering.

Our students took part in the national level competition, Mera Gaon Mere Base, conducted by the Ultra Tech Cement Company. As part of the competition our students visited some rural villages near Kallambalam, Vellarada etc and conducted a study regarding the problems faced by the people residing in these villages. Our students developed Master Plans for the future development of all these villages and prepared the cost estimates for developmental works.

Civil Engineering Association conducted a Photography Competition with the theme “Beauty of the campus”, in which many beautiful views of our campus were zoomed into frame by our students. This competition was conducted to develop the creative and artistic skills of our students.

Building Design Competition was conducted in which our students had to do the Architectural Design of a Multi storied Residential Building to the given requirements of space, budget and site constraints. This competition gave them an experience regarding the design of real buildings.

Debate Competition is being conducted every week during the CGPU hour. The entire class has been divided into groups of four students each. A socially relevant topic has been assigned to each group for debate.

Civil Engineering Association is bringing out a Technical Magazine “IZAARAH”, in which articles about emerging areas and burning issues in the field of Civil Engineering are published. This magazine is very informative and gives the students an opportunity to learn advanced topics in Civil Engineering and to enhance their creative skills.

The Civil Engineering Association of our college is very dynamic and is thronging with activity. The programmes organized by the Association gives the students an opportunity to boost their creative skills, knowledge and self confidence.
