Eli­gi­bil­ity for Admis­sion

a. The can­di­dates must be an Indian Citizen.

b. The can­di­dates should have stud­ied the Grad­u­ate course in an insti­tu­tion approved by the AICTE/​Deemed Universities.

c. Can­di­dates should have a min­i­mum of first class marks in the Engi­neer­ing Degree examination.

For SC/​ST can­di­dates pass mark in the Engi­neer­ing Degree course is sufficient.

For SEBC stu­dents a min­i­mum of 54% aggre­gate marks in Engi­neer­ing Degree exam is mandatory.

d. Can­di­dates, who have passed AMIE/​AMIETE Exam­i­na­tions and sat­is­fy­ing the fol­low­ing conditions,

are eli­gi­ble for admission

1) They must have valid GATE score.

2) A min­i­mum of 55% marks for sec­tion B in AMIE/​AMIETE examination.

3) Min­i­mum three years of Pro­fes­sional expe­ri­ence in the field of Spe­cial­iza­tion after acquiring 

the qual­i­fy­ing degree.

e. Can­di­dates who have appeared for the final semes­ter exam­i­na­tion can also apply, pro­vided 

she has passed all the sub­jects up to and includ­ing the Sixth semes­ter exam. Such candidates

shall sub­mit attested copies of all mark sheets up to Sixth semes­ter along with the application.

Selec­tion of such can­di­dates shall be sub­ject to the pro­duc­tion of qual­i­fy­ing degree satisfying

clauses 3.1 (a) to © as applic­a­ble on or before Sep­tem­ber 302013.

Selec­tion pro­ce­dure in dif­fer­ent cat­e­gories of M Tech seats are as fol­lows:



Selec­tion Procedure


Merit Quota (75% seats of total approved intake of each course)

On the basis of the rank list pub­lished by DTE for M Tech admis­sion 2013.

In case seats remain vacant due to lack of suf­fi­cient can­di­dates, appli­cants with valid GATE score will be con­sid­ered on the basis of GATE score.

In case of tie, advan­tage will be given to the appli­cants who secure high­est aggre­gate marks up to and includ­ing­pre final year exam in their qual­i­fy­ing examination.

If seats are still remain­ing vacant, appli­cants from Ker­ala with­out valid gate score will be selected based on the aggre­gate marks up to and includ­ing pre final year exam of their qual­i­fy­ing examination.

Even if seats are still remain­ing vacant, can­di­dates from other states will be con­sid­ered for admission.


Spon­sored Quota (25% seats of total approved intake of each course out of which 1 seat in each course is reserved for eli­gi­ble appli­cants from LBS Engi­neer­ing Colleges.)

On the basis of Qual­i­fy­ing Exam­i­na­tion marks and expe­ri­ence in the ratio 8:2.

For Spon­sored can­di­dates, min­i­mum of 2 years Expe­ri­ence is required. 4 marks will be granted for each addi­tional year of expe­ri­ence lim­ited to a max­i­mum of 20 marks.

In case of tie, advan­tage will be given to the appli­cants with more experience.

In the absence of suf­fi­cient appli­ca­tions in spon­sored quota, the vacant seats will be con­verted to open merit seats and selec­tion will be done accordingly.

Course Struc­ture:

Four semes­ter pro­gramme with a total dura­tion of two aca­d­e­mic years will include lec­tures, lab­o­ra­tory work, sem­i­nar and a the­sis work in the rel­e­vant area of the spe­cial­iza­tion. The course con­tent will be as per the syl­labus pre­scribed by Uni­ver­sity of Kerala.

Dis­tri­b­u­tion of Seats:  

a.75% seats of the approved intake of each M Tech Pro­gramme will be filled up from open merit by observ­ing the reser­va­tion poli­cies of Gov­ern­ment /​Uni­ver­sity.

b.25% seats of the approved intake of each M Tech Pro­gramme are reserved for eli­gi­ble can­di­dates from Educational/​Research insti­tu­tions approved by AICTE/​UGC/​Govt/​Universities or Indus­try out of which one seat is reserved for eli­gi­ble can­di­dates from Engi­neer­ing col­leges under LBS cen­tre for Sci­ence and Technology.

c. Unveiled seats if any under reservation/​sponsored quota will be filled up from open merit.
